BIS/CRS Registration

responsible for certifying products in India, and the Compulsory Registration
Scheme (CRS) is a mandatory requirement for certain products, including smart
watches.
All smart watches are
now required to be registered under the IS 13252BIS / CRS Registration System (Part-1). The CRS ensures that products that
may impact the safety, health, or environment of consumers are subject to
mandatory certification by the BIS. Smart watches are among the products
covered under this scheme, and as such, they must undergo testing and
certification before they can be sold in India.

Registration, smart watches cannot be exported, imported, or sold on the Indian
consumer market. The straightforward and uncomplicated process guarantees that
the Smart Watch satisfies all safety and quality requirements established by
the Bureau of Indian Standards. A product bearing the BIS certification mark
has been examined in accordance with the applicable Indian Standard.
The BIS sets the
standards for the quality and safety of various products, including smart
watches. Manufacturers must submit their products for testing to accredited
laboratories, and the BIS evaluate the test results to determine whether the
products meet the necessary standards. If the smart watch meets the standards,
the BIS issues a certificate of registration that allows the manufacturer to
sell the product in India.
