Energy conservation is the key to a prosperous future, according to the BEE CERTIFICATE. Everyone says the environment is important and prioritises it higher; some even take environmental action. In accordance with the provisions of the Energy Conservative Act, 2001 - BUREAU OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY - The Government of India implemented the creative energy conservation project on March 1. (BEE). BEE is a significant player in cooperating with authorized consumers, designated agencies, and other organisations while carrying out its responsibilities under the Energy Conservation Act. It also recognises, identifies, and makes use of existing resources and infrastructure. The Energy Conservation Act governs and encourages energy efficiency.

WHAT IS A BEE CERTIFICATE?

Bureau of Energy Efficiency, or BEE, is a government organisation that reports to the Ministry of Power. This organisation creates a campaign to persuade everyone to use energy wisely and promote energy conservation.
Setting guidelines and labels for star ratings for various appliances is another crucial duty of BEE. When a manufacturer develops a new model and wants to certify it, they test it in accordance with BEE's guidelines and then submit an application for star certification using the test results. Based on the findings of the testing, BEE rates appliances in terms of stars.

WHY IS A BEE-RATING CERTIFICATE REQUIRED FOR A PRODUCT?

BEE Promote energy conservation and efficiency while disseminating knowledge about it. The level of performance and electricity consumption of a product must be supported by a BEE-rating certificate. The certificate includes metrics that measure a product's effectiveness and efficiency in terms of electricity usage.

It is the mission of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to "institutionalize" energy efficiency services, enable national delivery systems, and set the standard for energy efficiency across all sectors of the economy. Reducing the economy's energy intensity is its main goal.

Program for Bee Standards and Labeling

Since 2006, BEE has operated a standardization and labelling programme in accordance with the EC statute. This program's main objective is to educate consumers about the potential for cost and energy savings offered by the relevantly promoted product. The programme mandates the placement of energy performance labels and the development of minimal energy performance standards on high-energy end-use machinery and appliances. As part of this programme, minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) for equipment and appliances are established. Additionally, energy performance is rated on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 stars denoting the highest energy-efficient performance.

It is forbidden to sell appliances or equipment that are less efficient than the minimum required level according to energy efficiency standards, which set energy performance norms for manufactured appliances and equipment.

Currently, 29 appliances and pieces of equipment are covered by the BEE standard and labelling program's star ratings. The following is a list of the appliances that are Star Labelled :-

PROCESS FOR BEE CERTIFICATION

Determine your eligibility for obligatory or optional BEE certification before submitting your application. While certain products are on the BEE's mandatory product list and must be registered, others are on the optional product list.

BEES TESTING PRODUCTS IN STEP 1: Testing a sample to gauge energy usage is the first step towards registration. The test report will be needed when registering a MODEL. The applicant must deliver the sample(s) and technical documents to a lab that is NABL-accredited for testing in order to obtain the findings.

There are two different kinds of testing done:

·        Performance Testing - Performance testing is done on all BEE-required items. A star rating is given as a result, which helps to portray the performance of the product.

·        Safety testing is carried out on the samples covered by BEE and BIS. This evaluation is done to see if the product is user-friendly or not.

FORMATS NEEDED FOR TESTING

For product testing, the following papers are necessary:

·        the establishment's legal address must be demonstrated.

·        Copy of a factory licence in English that lists the relevant product as the area of manufacturing, along with the location of the manufacturing facility.

·        a user's guide that includes a test sample

·        a replica of the BIS licence that details all of the models that were utilised, the expiration date, and the licence type

STEP 2: BRAND/COMPANY REGISTRATION

The steps listed below should be followed in order to register a BRAND with BEE:

·        Documentation: The initial step is gathering the documentation listed below. assemble the necessary paperwork, register the brand on the BEE website, and pay the security deposit amount online.

·        Application must be filed both online and offline to the BEE Department after the required paperwork has been gathered. Send a hard copy of the application and its attachments, duly signed by the authorised signatory, to BEE. Give the same if BEE asks for clarification or further details.

·        Examination of Documents - BEE officials will examine applications to see if the given documents are in the correct sequence. BEE officials will check the documents to see if they are all submitted and filed correctly or not.

·        Grant of Login Credential - BEE Officials will email BEE Login Credentials if they are satisfied with the submitted documentation and application. The link for model registration will be activated by BEE once the brand or company registration has been approved.

REQUIRED DOCUMENT FOR REGISTRATION OF COMPANY/BRAND

The applicant is responsible for making sure that the documents are submitted in the correct order. Each document submitted to BEE (whether in hard copy or electronically) shall bear the original signature and stamp of the authorised signatory.

Documents that are simply stapled, loose, clipped, or improperly filed will all be rejected. The application's non-compliance would be regarded as a process deviation.

The following papers must be submitted in order to register a brand:

·        a business letter in the appropriate format

·        For the Company, a receipt for the registration fee and payment

·        Get the online company registration form printed (properly signed and stamped with company seal with all filled in details)

·        Agreement on Rs. 100 Non-Judicial Stamp Paper between BEE and Label User

·        Trademark Certificate (In the Name of the User of Label)

·        Certified by SSI (If Small Scale Industry and applying for the first time)

·        Certified Quality Management System (ISO 9001)

·        Authorization letter for signing

·        BIS Licensing

*All documents must be posted to the web portal with the right validity date before being sent to BEE.*
PHASE III: MODEL REGISTRATION

The steps below must be followed in order to register a model:

 
1.       Documentation: The initial step is gathering the documentation listed below. Obtain and upload the necessary information and papers on the BEE site.
2.       Test results: Performance testing and safety testing are the two forms of product testing that are done in order to register a model. To register a model, you must submit the test reports.
3.       Prepare BEE Sample Labels: Based on the results of one test, the BEE Sample level is created. It helps the customer assess the product's potential for energy and financial savings.
4.       Model Registration (Online/Offline Submission): According to the model, the applicant must submit their BEE both online and offline. Make an online model registration payment to BEE. Send a hard copy of the application, any enclosures that have been properly signed by the authorised signatory, and, if necessary, a BEE label specimen. Provide the same if BEE asks for clarification or further details.
5.       Application review: BEE officials will look over the documentation, test results, and application. The provided documents will be rejected if they are out of order, improperly filed, loose or clipped, or simply stapled.
6.       Grant of Approval: If BEE officials are pleased with the application, supporting materials, and sample test report, they will grant approval. BEE approves the application and offers permission to apply the label once it is satisfied.
REQUIRED DOCUMENT FOR MODEL REGISTRATION

The following is a list of the supporting documents needed to register a model.
·         Letter of Coverage (Format closed)
·         The cost of each model's registration
·         Take a printout of the online application (properly signed and stamped with company seal)
·         Create a printout of the necessary form and its annexes (For mandatory products only)
·         Test Results (properly signed and stamped with company seal) Each model's test sample label (printed waterproof adhesive or metallic, as appropriate), along with the online application form for that specific model, must be stapled.
