Steps To Export Rice From India To USA

The Procedure
The export of rice takes place only with the help of processing units registered by the National Plant Protection Organization.
Registration of Firm, Company, or Entity
For exporting rice from India, the company is required to register with the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine, and Storage (DPPQS) and then apply for company PAN.
Taking Import Export Code (IEC)
IEC (Import export code) is a mandatory requirement for the export of any product from India. You may apply for IEC online from the DGFT website.
Then, select the target country in which you want to export. You must select a country by considering the demand for rice through market research such as:

- Saudi Arabia
- Benin
- Togo
- Somalia

The exporter must keep in mind all necessary rules and regulations, as given by the FDA, USDA, and CBP.
Need for PSC (Phytosanitary Certificate)
The exporter is required to obtain PSC for each consignment prior to the export of rice to the USA with the help of the online PQIS system. PCS is an official document that certifies that agricultural products or plants are free from quarantine pests. The exporter is required to apply for inspection, by attaching a copy of the consignment.
Then, the EIA checks:
Ø Certificate of origin
Invoice
Packing list
Letter of credit/trade
Shipping/air waybill.
