When is IEC not required (exemptions)?

IEC Code is not required for the service exporters unless the service provider is receiving benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy.

The exemption from availing from the code will not be available to export Prescribed Organisms, Special Chemicals, Materials, Equipment, and Technologies.

An IEC Code is not required for personal use imports or exports. The Import Export Code is only required for commercial and corporate purposes.

2. Is it necessary to file IEC returns?

When exporting or importing, receiving, or making payments, the IEC code is required. There are no post-registration compliances; hence there is no need to file returns for the Import-Export code in India.
