WPC ETA Certification

Criteria required for applying for WPC Certification?

1).    Importers and Manufacturers:

Before selling Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities in the Indian market, importers and manufacturers must obtain WPC certification and a Certificate of Import authorisation.

There is no need for particular in-country testing if the product is made in the nation. The only prerequisite is obtaining a specific RF (Radio Frequency) report from a laboratory that has been accredited by ISO/IEC 17025.

What is the application procedure for WPC Certification?

1).  The applicant must submit an online application, and the commodities and categories must be properly chosen because an application will be refused if they are not.

2).  After you submit your application, the system generates an Application ID.

3).  For submission, the application's hard copy should be delivered to the WPC office.

4).  Once the information provided and the papers produced have been verified, the WPC authority will issue certification.

The WPC Equipment Type Authorization License Process

When compared to other certification processes, the WPC Certification process is relatively simple and easy. Typically, the WPC Certification procedure takes two to three months. The applicant company must present the mandatory Radio Frequency Test Results, which must be given by a recognised Testing Laboratory, after submitting the application. Even for overseas businesses, conducting the testing in India is required, under modifications announced in 2021. A physical factory inspection is not required to be undertaken for this. The WPC licence issued is eternal unless the product is altered. The generating company must submit a new application if it is updated.

Agencies should use it to get the licence to operate inside a designated frequency if they need the WPC approval. Every wireless product will function on a different wireless network. De-licensed frequency bands would be necessary for many wireless devices to function. De-licensed frequency bands would require a unique kind of authority. This kind of authorization is referred to as a "ETA" (Equipment Type Approval). The Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) division grants the ETA clearance. In conclusion, a product is an ETA Certificate if it is not WPC-approved but still uses a de-licensed frequency band. The steps for obtaining a WPC ETA License are as follows:

WPC Equipment Type Authorization Certification documentation requirements

For foreign producing businesses:

-:-  An AIP, or authorised Indian representative, must be proposed by the foreign producing company submitting the application if no liaison branches have been formed in India.

-:-  In the event that the liaison branch is established, the branch must register as an AIR.

-:-  The foreign producing company must approve an AIR for Indian producing companies in order to obtain an import licence.

-:-  If the company has all the relevant documentation, they can submit the WPC ETA without the need for AIR.
