WPC ETA Certification
WPC, or Wireless Planning and Coordination, is a
division of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology that was
established in 1952 and has regional offices in Guwahati, Calcutta, Mumbai, and
Chennai in addition to its established headquarters in New Delhi. The primary
duties of WPC include monitoring and managing the
frequency spectrum as well as issuing permits for amateur radio operators. WPS is authorised for additional wireless
certifications, such as WPC ETA Certification (WPC Equipment Type Authorization
Certification), in addition to these duties.
For the process of any type of radio-frequency-enabled
equipment, authorisation is necessary. The WPC department must give its
approval before any radio-based frequency equipment can be imported into India.
This organisation would guarantee that the service provider complied with all
licencing requirements. The Department of Telecommunications controls wireless
coordination and planning for the wing (DoT). The licence criteria for wireless
testing and frequency testing would fall within the purview of this division.
In India,
the WPC Regulatory Body
The Department of Telecommunication is the governing
authority for WPC in India (DoT). In India, the Ministry of Telecommunications
would be the only agency in charge of overseeing such a department. The agency
would also be in charge of frequency spectrums and frequency spectrum
monitoring in addition to out-licensing. The primary regulation that regulates
the licencing needs for various kinds of equipment is the Indian Wireless and
Indian Telegraphy Act.
WPC Certification Approval Authorizations
The following approvals are on the list of those covered by
WPC:
1). Equipment Type
Approval, often known as ETA,
2). Type Acceptance
3). experimental
endorsement
4). Dealer Possession
Licenses, often known as DPL
5). Non-Dealer
Possession Licenses, or NDPL,
6). Radio Devices
Import Permits
WPC regulations
Granting non-professional radio licences is the WPC's main duty; it also oversees and
allots frequency spectrum. The WPC is split up into various departments, each
of which is in charge of
1). Regulating and
Licensing (LR)
2). Technology Group
New (NTG)
3). Committee on
Radio Frequency Allocation, Standing Advisory
(SACFA)
Regulation
and licencing: what are they?
When it comes to licencing and requirements for WPC approval, the department will be taken
into consideration. All tasks pertaining to the licencing and regulation of the
WPC fall under the purview of this authority.
New
Technology Group: What is it?
Any type of new technology is employed; this department is in
charge of managing the region's procedures and technological infrastructure.
The
Standing Advisory Committee on Radio Frequency Allocation is what, exactly?
The SACFA is responsible for distributing various
radiofrequency proposals and other recommendations related to the International
Telecom Union.
Eligibility
Criteria required for applying for WPC Certification?
1). Importers and
Manufacturers:
Before selling Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities in the Indian
market, importers and manufacturers must obtain WPC certification and a Certificate of
Import authorisation.
2). regarding the
chosen representative:
For WPC clearance in India, a foreign
corporation that is the applicant must choose an authorised agent. The
authorised representative will be a company that will represent the foreign
business during the filing for WPC approval procedure in India.
3). For Frequency
Results -
At all times, the results must include the frequency result
of the specific wireless accessory. In each result, the resolution bandwidth,
video bandwidth, frequency, and sweep must all be mentioned.
4). For the Report
by ISO Laboratories –
There is no need for particular in-country testing if the
product is made in the nation. The only prerequisite is obtaining a specific RF
(Radio Frequency) report from a laboratory that has been accredited by ISO/IEC
17025.
5). the Need For De-Licensed
Frequency Bands –
All devices with wireless capacity must be able to operate on
the designated de-licensed frequency bands, and doing so is a requirement for
all devices.
6). For Technical
Information Sheet -
The technical data sheet, which can be requested from the
appropriate authority, must be on hand for the application.
What is the application procedure for WPC Certification?
1). The applicant must
submit an online application, and the commodities and categories must be
properly chosen because an application will be refused if they are not.
2). After you submit
your application, the system generates an Application ID.
3). For submission,
the application's hard copy should be delivered to the WPC office.
4). Once the
information provided and the papers produced have been verified, the WPC authority will issue certification.
The WPC Equipment Type Authorization License Process
When compared to other certification processes, the WPC Certification process is relatively
simple and easy. Typically, the WPC Certification procedure takes two to
three months. The applicant company must present the mandatory Radio Frequency
Test Results, which must be given by a recognised Testing Laboratory, after
submitting the application. Even for overseas businesses, conducting the
testing in India is required, under modifications announced in 2021. A physical
factory inspection is not required to be undertaken for this. The WPC licence issued is eternal unless the
product is altered. The generating company must submit a new application if it
is updated.
Agencies should use it to get the licence to operate inside a
designated frequency if they need the WPC approval. Every wireless product will function on a
different wireless network. De-licensed frequency
bands would be necessary for many wireless devices to function. De-licensed
frequency bands would require a unique kind of authority. This kind of
authorization is referred to as a "ETA" (Equipment Type Approval).
The Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC)
division grants the ETA clearance. In conclusion, a product is an ETA Certificate if it is not WPC-approved but still uses a
de-licensed frequency band. The WPC's Equipment Type Approval includes
goods like Bluetooth gadgets, Wi-Fi technologies, and mobile phones (ETA).
The steps for obtaining a WPC ETA License are as follows:
1). Tests on radio
frequencies must be performed at a certified Indian laboratory.
2). the creation of
all application-related documentation requirements.
3). creating a portal
online at the Saal Sanchar portal.
4). Application must
be submitted to WPC either online or offline,
along with the necessary supporting documentation and the results of the radio
frequency test.
5). the application's
evaluation
6). Issuing the certificate is WPC.
WPC Equipment Type Authorization Certification documentation
